The Genesis Process: A New Beginning

What is the Genesis Process?

Genesis means "a new beginning." The Genesis Process at its core is a process aimed at personal renewal, healing, and growth. It addresses the age-old question of the Apostle Paul (Romans 7) as to why we do the very thing(s) we do not want to do. Many of us try our hardest to change, only to end up doing the very thing we said we would never do again. Every one of us needs to have our minds and hearts renewed, whether we have suffered from severe traumas or not; and we all need to experience the grace, the truth, and the love of Christ on the deepest levels possible. Genesis is a means to a new beginning through the restoring power of truth and grace in Christ.

The "Genesis Process" is just that, a process. One-on-one or in a group setting it helps free people who have become "stuck" in life. The "Genesis Process" is relevant, biblically balanced, and profoundly practical. It is able to help ordinary people (us) who may have lost hope not only find it again, but also to experience the grace and unconditional love of God. It is a God-given tool that allows a person to move from brokenness or being stuck for example in fear, shame, false guilt, anxiety or emotional pain --- to healing and wholeness in Christ. It is also a very transferable process that is taught to other volunteer counselors enabling a multiplied counseling ministry in the church and community.

Although the "Genesis Process" is used heavily in drug and alcohol addiction treatment (and it works), we have found that those are just two "drugs of choice" among many more "drugs", such as anger, anxiety, food, shopping, control, gambling, pornography, numbing out, cutting, etc. We find that the application of the principles of Genesis Process helps people discover and deal with the things that cause them to be trapped in behaviors that are keeping them from being what God designed them to be. Someone said, that no one can consistently behave in a way that is inconsistent with the way he or she perceives himself to be. IF your learned belief system believes that you are defective or bad or worthless, then your life and behaviors will reflect that belief. The "Genesis Process" helps us be renewed and changed from the inside out. As you work through the process you can experience what Jesus taught, that if you know the truth (experientially), the truth will set you free. And when the Son of God sets you free that you will be free indeed.
